Music is central to life at The Brigade, so when Intel asked us to build a new music discovery app for on-demand music giant Spotify, we hit the whiteboard to dream big.

Solution

Launch Sifter, the most innovative and social music discovery experience on the Spotify App Platform and inspired by Intel. Users can uncover new music recommendations in two simple modes:

Passive Mode:

Kick back and enjoy a tailored radio experience.

Active Mode:

Infinitely click through the interface to uncover new gems.

At The Brigade, we aim for the best user experience first, and then layer branding in the fabric of our design to drive earned media.

Intel Sifter, a visual way for Spotify listeners to find, save, and share new music powered by Facebook and The Echo Nest.

With Sifter, we reached a key Intel demographic on Spotify and hit an unheard of average of 1.5 hours time-spent-in-app—a record for Spotify apps.

And Spotify’s CEO Daniel Ek featured Sifter in his 2012 Ad Age Keynote Address. Music to our ears.

1. Discover

Sifter analyzes an infinite bin of songs and artists and returns a clear path for users to explore by choice, query, or friends’ favorites.

2. Save

Sifter makes and remakes playlists with one click on an artist, song or friend: a feature that boosted adoption rates dramatically.

3. Social

Sifter then connects playlists to Facebook, giving Intel more customer influence through the unique intimacy and power of music.

Connect with friends on Sifter

Not only does Sifter create amazing playlists, it connects you to your friends via music taste. Check out what songs your friends are listening to for an extra layer of music discovery.

Featured in Spotify CEO, Daniel Ek’s Ad Age keynote, Sifter helped Intel reach their key demographic by providing a music discovery tool they would actually use. The app boasts an average time spent in app of over 1.5 hours.
