Kodak Site and Apps

Following Kodak’s acquisition of Carestream, I worked with them to rethink the user experience, visual design and messaging for their entire digital presence. The project touched everything from their website to the interface of their digital imaging and practice management applications.

The Website

Their new website was designed to allow visitors to discover the benefits of Kodak products from multiple angles. Visually, we hoped to achieve a crisp, modern and clean look look that allowed the content to come forward.

Digital Imaging Apps

Part of the reason Kodak approached thinking through the interface of their tools at the same time, was that they wanted to take the chance to establish what a Kodak app should look and feel like. Following a meticulous user story and experience phase, I started by bringing forward iconography, typography and color palettes from the website designs. Given that this set of apps were for recording, reviewing, comparing and sharing high resolution imagery, I opted to introduce a dark background for contrast.

Practice Management Apps

Building on much of the same thinking from the imaging apps, I designed this set of screens for managing patient chairs, schedules and treatment plans.

Mobile Treatment Vision

The final stage of this of this project was to present a new vision for how primary doctors, referring doctors and patients could interact through the cloud. We proposed that if the data used in the various interfaces lived freely in the cloud, doctors could collaborate and deliver a better patient experience.

One use case we envisioned was a patient visiting a doctor with severe jaw pain. Her primary doctor does some initial research and then refers her to a specialist. The specialist is able to easily read notes and view scans that were done of her jaw. The patient schedules a quick procedure and comes back in two weeks for it. A week later, she is feeling some pain and calls her primary care doctor. Using his iPhone app, he is able to check procedure notes, see what medications have been prescribed and immediately offer her relief.

We shared Kodak’s belief that this open sharing of data and improved communication could truely transform the patient experience. Here are some screenshots and user flows from that presentation.
