Favorite Things: Ben Krogh

Brigade designer Ben Krogh was born in the wilds (rather, a small town) of Wisconsin where he honed his design chops between bow hunting and knot tying. After years of scouting and achieving the Eagle Scout rank, he only has one notch taken out of his totin’ chip. Here are a few of his favorite things:

Book: Currently reading Bonhoeffer: Pastor, Martyr, Prophet, Spy

Film: That’s really difficult to say. I think this past year Lincoln earned that top spot. It will probably change in the next year or two.

Artist: If I were to give a designerly, intelligent answer it would be Frank Stella. his line paintings are phenomenal. If I were to give an answer based on what work has always fascinated me and drawn me in, it would be Albrecht Dürer. He was an absolute genius, and his engravings are mind blowing.

Designer: There are so many designers I love. My favorite American would probably be Lester Beall, my favorite Dutch Designer is hands down Wim Crouwel. I also love the work of Michael Place, a designer from London.

Gift: When I was 11 or 12, My parents bought me a brand new Dyno Compe BMX bike out of the blue. It wasn’t Christmas or my birthday, just a random present, and it was by far the greatest present that someone gave me.

Object: I could narrow it down to a few of my favorite items. My Recording King acoustic guitar, My Osprey Momentum bag, and my AIAIAI TMA-1 headphones. I use them all nearly every day.

Songs:
